What's going on in Web Technologies & Digital & Interactive Media?

Aug. 23, 2010, 2:35 PM

Web Mastering is now Web Technologies!  HTML and Photoshop will be the majority of the fall curriculum.  Adobe Dreamweaver &  Flash CS4 is the focus for spring.   Dreamweaver is software that creates web pages and does the HTML code for the user.  Flash is software that can be used to create animations, movies, web pages and images.  Both are software used by professional web developers, so this is a great opportunity for students to be able to learn these tools.  I am only available for tutoring this year!

Multimedia is now Digital and Interactive Media.  It covers design and color concepts, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Flash animations and a bit of video editing, sound editing, and combining tools we have already learned.  Students should have plenty of time in class to do assigned work.  Absences or failure to do work in class might result in needing to attend tutorials.  See my schedule for tutorials above.

Aug. 10:  Aug. Notes:  Homework is rare in my classes.  However, if a student works slower than most students, he or she may need to come to tutorials to finish work.  If a student is absent, they should expect to come to tutorials to make up missed work.  (A few students manage to make up work without coming in extra.)

Supplies:  Pen (in a color I'd enjoy reading-not fuschia, orange, lime, etc.), pencil, highlighter, 1" notebook* with ~20 sheets of paper (or some space in a large binder)

A flash drive would also be very helpful to have (needed in spring, so watch for sales).  Flash drives come in various storage capacities. 1 GB or more will be fine.

*Multimedia can probably survive with a pocket folder with brads, rather than a 1" notebook.
