Frequently Asked Questions
This may address some questions you have! :)
Or not. One day I'll add to this! If you have any good questions - send me an email! :)
Q: When are students in Spanish considered tardy? A: When the bell rings, they are expected to be in their seat already, not on their way.
Q: Is this class for high school credit? A: Yes, after successfully completing BOTH 1-A AND 1-B, the student will receive a high school credit for Foreign Language.
Q: How much work is involved? A: Many students say this is the hardest course at LJIS, beside 8th Algebra. There is plenty of work and there are many times work at home is expected. To truly learn a language, you can't expect to master it in 50 minute classes, 5 times a week. If you aren't happy with your grade, you know what you need to do!
Q: Is there any extra credit? A: Extra credit is given on quizes and tests and usually on large projects we do in class. Unfortunately, the students that ask for the most extra credit are the ones who aren't even doing the regular work in class!
Q: Is there a time when I can come in for extra help? A: Yes!! Mr. Davies is usually at school by 7:30 and he's available during tutorial time. Just ask for a pass!!
Q: Why do you take points off of late assignments? A: This is a high school course and students are expected to learn responsibility and to keep up with their work. I expect students to have COMPLETED work ON TIME or there are consequences - a real life lesson.
