What's going on! November 2009 Mrs. Lara’s Class Volume 10 Issue 3
Peek at the Week This month we will be discussing the food guide pyramid and tasting a variety of foods from each food group. We will do a unit on Thanksgiving and discuss various Thanksgiving topics. We will continue to sort, pattern, and work with numbers; however, we will now concentrate on numbers through 10. We will focus on the letters Oo, Zz, Jj, Dd, Ee and Yy. We will end November and begin December with a unit on transportation. Play games at home to help make learning and homework fun. Play I Spy! There are many variations you can play to work on different skills. Example: I spy something that rhymes with red; bed. I spy something that starts the letter s; sink. I spy something that starts with the /c/ sound; couch. I spy something that has 2 syllables or beats; table. Continue giving clues until the object is identified. Nov. 4: Alicia Lopez Nov. 6: Courtney Giles Nov. 24: Treylan Johnson The Jane Booster Club is having a Thanksgiving raffle. One prize is a turkey dinner with all the trimmings and the other prize is a ham dinner with all the trimmings. All the ingredients are provided, you have to provide the cook. Tickets are $1.00. If you would like to send snacks for the class, it would be greatly appreciated! We can use goldfish, pretzels, graham crackers, animal crackers, vanilla wafers, cereal, fruit snacks, or other type of snack your child may prefer.
