Tips for Home Encourage your child to write at home. Have them sound out the words they want to write. Help them sound out the words and have them tell you what letter makes that sound; then have them write that letter. Invented spelling is OK and appropriate at this stage. Example: If your child wants to write "The rainbow is pretty." It is fine for them to write "The ranbo is prt." (They are only expected to write the sounds they can hear.) However, if they want to write a popcorn or sight word we have learned, I expect them to be able to write it correctly.

For Your Information
If your child is absent, please send a note stating the reason why. Place the note in your child's binder and I will turn it in to the office. You have 48 hours to provide documentation about the absence or the absence will be recorded as unexcused. If your child leaves school early, please provide documentation as well. If you have gone to a doctor's appointment, please provide a note from the doctor's office. Thank you!
If you would like to send snacks for the class, it would be greatly appreciated! We can use goldfish, pretzels, graham crackers, animal crackers, vanilla wafers, cereal, fruit snacks, or other type of snack your child may prefer.
